"Career Destination" Solutions

Learning Agents developed the concept for this community-based solution to skill shortages sponsored by the Alliance of Manitoba Sector Councils. Career Destination: Manitoba has, for over ten years, provided students with an online insight in to career opportunities and the requisite skills and certification needed for opportunities in Manitoba.

This web-based multimedia portrait gallery speaks to career learners in their own language because it channels the insights of real people in real jobs. We work with local partners to identify the learning outcomes and to find “walking, talking” examples of those outcomes in the community who are willing to share their experiential learning. We pay careful attention to population demogrphics so that significant segments of the population are represented: youth, women, Aboriginals, immigrants, people with disabilities, etc.

This concept was later successfully adapted to the needs of francophones in rural Ontario and Manitoba and also immigrants - Career Destination Manitoba for Newcomers now contains over 100 immigrant success stories.
