Staff Development with Open Badges for Doctors Without Borders

November 1, 2017

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF) is one of the world's leading independent international medical relief organizations, working in around 80 countries worldwide. Barcelona is one of five autonomous operational centres with a global workforce of over 8000.

Tembo (Ki-swahili for "elephant") is MSF-Barcelona's innovative pilot program for personal learning and development for its staff around the world, with a focus on networked learning technologies and field recognition of learning.

Don was engaged to work on Tembo for his expertise in Open Badges (micro-credentials) to recognize and track learning and skill development. The program has been field tested in Ethiopia and Nigeria and will run another two years.
