Video: Learning Gardens Program Launch

September 9, 2015

Learning Gardens Guide Cover Learning Agents has produced a highly engaging recruitment video to support the new Nutrients for Life (NFL) Learning Gardens program. The video was based on footage shot at the launch event at Winnipeg Harvest on June 26, 2015. The program is a partnership of Nutrients for Life Foundation and Green Manitoba.

The Nutrients for Life Foundation is a registered Canadian charitable organization committed to bringing educational materials to the classroom, focusing on soil science and agricultural sustainability. Green Manitoba is a Special Operating Agency (SOA) operating within the Department of Conservation and Water Stewardship. Since 2006, Green Manitoba has served as a catalyst, knowledge portal and service delivery agent for government departments and a wide range of public and private sector organizations.

In 2013, Nutrients for Life partnered with Green Manitoba to pilot the Nutrients for Life Learning Garden Initiative. The program sponsored the creation and expansion of ten gardens in schools across Manitoba. Due to the success of the initiative, NFL Learning Gardens are now being rolled out nation-wide. Green Manitoba serves as the National Hub and provides coordination, administers funds, develops and shares learning resources, and tracks the successes of the participating schools.

There are two programs under the NFL Learning Garden Initiative – the Learning Garden Program ($3000 over two years) and School Garden Program ($500 one-time payment).
